Bar Mitzvah 2 trip – Family trip proposal

Day 1 – Jerusalem

A visit to the City of David – 3D movie: Inside an impressive hall, which is built in the style of an ancient luxurious guest room from the days of King David, a 3D presentation is shown. The presentation talks about the history of ancient Jerusalem and the City of David at its center. The presentation is 16 minutes long, and thanks to it, the ancient topography of Jerusalem during the Hibiscus-Canaanite era prior to the conquer of David at the year 1004 B.C is better understood.

Descending to Warren’s shaft and the wet/dry tunnel: “This is where it all began”. On the hill of the City of David, next to the western wall, the city of Jerusalem was born thousands of years ago. A walk lit by flashlights beneath the ground in Hezekiah’s Tunnel, fascinating mysteries from the past get a new exciting dimension and a panoramic look towards ancient Jerusalem.
There is a possibility to add a 500 meters walk in the tunnel up to Davidson site.

A visit to the western wall: Ancient stones, a tourist group from India, a bride in her white wedding gown on her wedding day, a man silently weeping in the corner, a hand hiding a note in the crack, 2000 years of history and millions of visitors – “the Kotel” (western wall).
First of all and most importantly, the western wall is a significant part of the glory of the second temple at its prime. It was a structure which the temple mount was built upon and the only remains of the temple.

A tour in the Jewish quarter: The story of the Jewish quarter is one with many changes that goes through various historical eras. The Jewish people has set its fate with this city thousands of years ago, but not always were Jews allowed to live in the city. During the first temple era, the walls of Jerusalem reached all the way to the hill where the Jewish quarter is set today and parts of this wall were discovered between the houses.

Movie at the time elevator: join amazing journeys – the secrets of Jerusalem, a journey to space, a journey in a tiny capsule inside the human body, or an exciting journey to the past, present and future of the capital of Israel.

Day 2 – northbound to the Golan

A visit to the Golan magic: A beautiful complex, a first of its kind in Israel, that combines new fascinating attractions – a unique film that presents the Golan while using all senses, filmed on a 180 degrees screen.
A 1:5000 scale model of the Golan, the only one of its kind in Israel, which tells the story of the Golan through a lightshow.
Lookout towards Syria from mount Ben-Tal (depends on the weather): Mount Ben-Tal is one of the inactive volcanos situated in the north-east of the Golan Heights. Its peak reaches 1165 meters above sea level. Ben-Tal is just west of the Syrian city of Qunetra and just south of kibbutz Marom Golan that lies to its footsteps. The mountain is part of a series of inactive volcanos and is a perfect observation point towards Syria, the Hermon Mountain and all of the Golan.

Chocolate workshop in De Karina in kibbutz Ein Zivan: in 2006 Karina opened together with her husband a small boutique chocolate shop. With time, Karina’s dream became a reality called DE KARINA. Day 3 – upper galilee

Hiking trail in Tel Dan: Dan springs and the biblical city in Dan nature reserve are the beginning of The Dan stream, the biggest and most important of the Jordan River sources. The abundant amounts of water that comes from the melted snow of the Hermon Mountain were the reason of the growth to one of the oldest and biggest biblical cities in the north. Until today it’s an important spot in modern Israel northern border.

Rangers trip: the trip begins at Moshav Dishon with a drive through the fields, orchards and vineyards. The drive might be muddy at the season. We will go through the Forest of Naphtali Mountains and climb with the rangers to the highest spot – Keren Naphtali (Naphtali’s horn). The “horn” gives us an extraordinary view and nature experience. Hula valley, Golan Heights and the Hermon lay in front of us with all their glory. The local guides will give us a professional explanation of all that we see together with Arabian coffee, herb tea and cookies.

Lunch at a restaurant

Tour at Rosh Hanikra via cable car: The main attraction are the grottos that are remarkably beautiful. They are painted in different colors depending on the time of the day and the season. The grottos are most impressive during sun set or storms. The length of the ring trail is approximately 200 meters.

Day 4 – Northern sea side

Acco tour – Knights hall: Inside the halls there is a 4000 years old story that is brought to us through musical displays, projected images on the walls telling us the story of the crusaders and plenty of other information of all eras.
During the visit, every guest will receive an audio guide that explains about all of the exhibitions in 10 different languages.
During the day, various streets will be open to the public showing us the various every day life of the crusaders time: blacksmith, glass blowing, pottery, knitting and sowing, leathery, basket weaving, perfume and oil manufacture and more…

Acco market tour: The market street is the main path in the old city going from north to south. During the crusaders time, this street led from the Hospitallers gate in the north, through the market – Via Regis (kings’ way), to the port in the south.
Today, on this route, the main market of the old city is situated – a colorful market with fish, middle eastern sweets, spices and souvenirs are on display.

Short trail on the Carmel – the suspended bridge: Two suspended bridges in Nesher park hung high above the Katia stream. They offer an unusual view to the slope beneath Haifa university which is all covered with natural forest.

Druze hospitality + Druze lunch: you are invited to get to know the Druze traditions, customs and life style. Smell, taste, touch and feel the special atmosphere and be introduced to the ancient religion of the Druze community. Here, on the Carmel mountain, an hour drive from Tel Aviv, you’ll find the village of Osafiye. In the narrow allies of the old village quarters you will hear from first hand the stories and history of this secret religion.

Guided tour in the “Maapilim” detention camp in Atlit: The restoration of the British detention camp with its barb wires, watch towers, sorting barracks, disinfection barracks, living barracks. A film about the Palmach break in during October 1945. Computerized archive with information about all Haapala members, activist and volunteers, as well as extensive information about the time during the British mandate. A tour on a real ship giving the feeling of a true voyage of the Maapilim during their difficult journey to Israel.

Day 5 – southbound

A visit to the national park of Caesarea: a huge city port built by king Herod over two thousand years ago. Including a roman theater, Herods palace, bath house, hippodrome and much more.

A drive to Gaza Envelope – Kibbutz Yad Mordechai: In kibbutz Yad Mordechai tourism there a few activities. A sweet experience that includes a short film about the life of bees, explanation from a real beekeeper and an opening of a bee hive. After that, a short drive around the kibbutz on a tractor and wagon that will take us to the cowshed, the agricultural bee house, fruits and vegetables packing station and a restoration of the battle over Yad Mordechai during the war of independence. In the end, a quick visit to the collection house, showing all kind of artifacts from the first years of the kibbutz.

A visit to Nativ Haasara “wall for peace”: Life by the wall. The story of our security reality around Gaza envelope. Nevertheless, we will hear about sturdiness and beautiful happy life in Moshav Nativ Haasara. Every visitor will pick a colorful ceramic stone, write a personal wish on it, and glue it to the security around the Moshav. The creation can be spotted from both sides of the wall and extends along the grey wall and changing completely the local atmosphere.

Drive to Hanokdim village + dinner: At Qanaim valley in Judean desert, between the city of Arad and Masada, lies an oasis – Hanokdim village. Here, at the shade of the palm trees and other orchards, you will find picturesque rooms, Bedouin tents, goats hair fabrics, open space Hans made from local stone and plenty of sitting spots. The village was established in 1991 and since then has hosted thousands of groups from Israel and abroad. Hanokdim village is the perfect place for a desert vacation or an unforgettable event at the heart of the wild scenario of the Judean desert.

Day 6 – Judean desert

Climbing Masada including Bar Mitzva at sun rise: We will enter the gates of Masada with first light and start our climb on this isolated cliff in the middle of the desert. A cliff that overlooks upon the dead sea and the wilderness of the area. A magnificent palace used to stand at this spot. During the great revolt against the romans, the last of the rebels hid here and became a symbol for a desperate battle for freedom. These historical actions, together with the archeological finds helped the decision to make this national park into a UNESCO world heritage site.

Return to Hanokdim village for breakfast + Camel ride

Floating on the dead sea: the dead sea is one of the saltiest lakes in the world situated inside the great rift valley. The border between Israel and Jordan runs through the middle of it. The dead seas shores are the lowest place in the world.

Drive back to Jerusalem / Tel Aviv.
